SHOW PROMOTER ANNOUNCES ACQUISITON OF FLORIDA WEST COAST SHOWS
Released on: October 14, 2008, 12:39 pm
Press Release Author: Fred and Gail Taylor
Industry: Consumer Services
Press Release Summary: JMK Shows of New Jersey has acquired three Sarasota, FL area antiques and collectibles shows formerly run by Dolphin Promotions.
Press Release Body: JMK Shows has had an eventful year so far. In the spring the Shows announced that Allison Kohler, daughter of show founders Jesse and Rona Kohler, is now the sole owner and administrator of the Shows and has assumed the title of Director. In August 2008 Kohler then revealed that JMK Shows had acquired the three long running, well established Sarasota Antiques Shows & Sales formerly promoted by Dolphin Promotions of Chicago and Ft. Lauderdale.
Kohler has ambitious plans for the three shows scheduled for December 27,28,29, 2008, January 30,31, February 1, 2009 and February 20,21,22, 2009. The December Show will feature a four piece string quartet for visitors' enjoyment. All three Shows will feature approximately fifty quality dealers with merchandise suitable for the cultured educated clientele of the Sarasota area and Kohler will strive to present a diversified quality Show for the upscale customer base.
Rosemary Kreiger of Dolphin promotions emphasized that this is a very amicable transfer of ownership of the Shows. Kreiger noted that the Dolphin schedule had become so crowded that she felt as President of Dolphin promotions she could not give the Sarasota Shows the dedicated attention they deserve for such a great market. They were hard to let go, she said, but she plans to lead Dolphin in other directions. She is confident Kohler will serve the Shows, the customers and the dealers well.
Among the eclectic dealers already signed for the show is John Forster, a local Sarasota dealer. He specializes in antique scientific instruments with a focus on 18th and 19th century barometers. He is looking forward to working with the new owner and said he has enjoyed the shows in the past ten years he has been there.
Veteran smalls dealers Arlene and Barry Gillman of New York are also on board for the three shows. They will offer a wide variety of smaller dressing accessories such as tortoise shell boxes, game boxes, powder jars, English perfume bottles and compacts. They have done the JMK Morristown Armory Antiques Show and Birchwood Manor Antiques Show for many years and also do shows in New York, Baltimore and Chicago in addition to the Florida shows.
JMK Shows & Events runs home shows and antique shows in New Jersey and New York as well as the newly acquired Florida events. JMK will have eleven shows this season beginning in October at the Morristown Armory in Morristown, NJ and ending at Birchwood Manor in Whippany, NJ in July. See the JMK website at www.jmkshows.com for the complete schedule and details.
All of the Florida Shows will be held at the spacious 10,000 square foot Sarasota Municipal Auditorium located at 801 N. Tamiami Trail three miles south of the Sarasota-Bradenton airport. Parking is free. Admission to the Shows is $6.00.
